I have decided that creating a blog would be a good idea for two reasons: 1) To post works in progress for commissioned artwork that I am currently working on. This will allow people to come here and view how their painting or drawing is doing and to be able to provide me with feedback. 2) To chronicle my journey towards establishing myself as a successful pet portrait artist.
I picked WordPress over a lot of other blog sites mainly because I had heard a lot of good things about it. I am also looking forward to doing all sorts of things with designing my page theme. However, I think it is going to take me a while to learn how to use WordPress well enough before I am able to do some of the things I had in mind.
I am very excited about beginning this blog. My head is just swimming with all sorts of ideas, and I can’t wait until I develop a following. I suppose, when I am not posting works in progress, I will use this more or less like a journal. For example, I should start by telling you that Friends on Canvas is my creation, my business. It is still in the early stages as I only came up with the idea for it over the summer. I only recently got my website www.friendsoncanvas.net up and running thanks very much to the finanial assistance of my mother-in-law, Kathy. Already I have had three commisions from paying clients.
I have been very busy creating accounts on various social networking sites to promote my work and get my name out there. Just in the last two days I started a Twitter acount, a LinkedIn account, and uploaded my artwork to Flickr. The next thing I plan to do is post my first work in progress here.
